Little stories I hope not to forget!

Since it has been forever since I've blogged, I've jotted down a few little stories over the past several months that I want to remember.

I love how Carter used to use the wrong verb tense sometimes when he talked. Unfortunately, he doesn't do this anymore, but some examples are:
"Mommy, can you found me a toy to play with?"
"Did you see me fell down?"
"I want to gave you a kiss."

A while ago before we were headed out to get a family picture taken, Donnie told the boys to meet us out in the car. Carter came out and got in the car (which was parked in the garage), but Ethan walked right past the car and went outside. I assumed he thought we were taking Donnie's truck which was parked in the driveway, so I opened my door and told him we were going in my van. He said, "I know, I'm just getting a stick." I asked him why he needed a stick and as he leaned over and picked one up, he turned to me and said, "I need one to beat all the girls off with." I guess Donnie told him that he looked so handsome in his picture clothes that he was going to have to beat the girls off with a stick!!

This one's for my sister: Paweeny Hot Junior (so I won't forget this stands for The Weenie Hut Jr. from Spongebob)

A couple of months ago, Carter was getting his pajamas on and told me that his underwear had a crack in them. I told him they would be fine and to continue getting dressed. A couple of minutes later he came running to me and said, "I know Mommy...maybe you can use your stuff from Billy Mays to fix my underwear!" He was referring to Mighty Mendit which I love! This of course happened before the very sad passing of Billy Mays. I have several of his products and my family always gave me such a hard time for being such a fan! My in-laws were here visiting the weekend he died, and they watched the boys while Donnie and I went to church. As soon as we got home, the first thing Ethan said to me as I walked through the door was, "Billy Mays died today." They were almost as shocked as I was!!

Ethan used to say 'skabeeto bite' instead of mosquito bite.

This one's a little gross...Several months back, I put Carter to bed, but he wasn't tired so he wanted to know if he could look at a book. I told him that was fine, and I would stay with him for a little bit. Well, not long after, he started picking his nose. I told him to stop, but it was too late. He had what he was digging for on the tip of his finger. I told him that was nasty and to use a tissue, and then I told him to give it to me and I would dispose of it. He told me that was OK...he would just put it in his booger collection. And then without hesitating, he leaned over and wiped it on his nightstand. With closer inspection, I was able to see his growing collection! After cleaning it thoroughly and talking to him about this, I'm happy to report there is not a new collection!!

After leaving the beach this summer, Ethan was so sad to leave his cousin Theron. He did a lot of crying, and was really down and out for several days after we got home. One night he asked me if Theron lives inside his heart. We always tell him how Jesus is in his heart. I told him yes and then that night, he crossed his arms around his chest (like how you give yourself a hug) and said that he was giving Theron a hug goodnight.

And here's a recent one: For last night's homework Ethan had to write 5 sentences using 5 different vocab words. He chose the word 'in' for one of his sentences and he wrote: In sid my moms hrt thar is ulot of nisnes. (Inside my mom's heart there is a lot of niceness).

I am so bad at keeping up with the funny things they say and do, but this is something I really want to get better at, because I know I will forget (as I already have so many things). Hopefully there will be more to come...

Bungee Jump Swing

Our mall has a really cool bungee swing/trampoline that allows you to jump as high or as low as you want. I thought my boys would want to watch a few people do it at first before giving it a try, but when we got there, we were the only ones in line and they wanted to go....right now. So they got hooked up and started jumping. After they got used to it, they asked to go higher. Ethan even ended up doing a flip. I wish I got a picture of his face afterwards, b/c it was priceless. I don't think he knew what happened and he looked so disoriented!! They had a blast and have been begging me to go back!

First Days of School

Well I cannot believe that Ethan is in the 1st grade and Carter will start kindergarten next year. They are both doing well in school, although Ethan complains that the day feels much longer than it did in kindergarten. They are the same amount of time, but I think it's because first grade is so much more structured and there's a lot more work. He's doing well, but is definitely tired when he gets home. Carter is in the jumpstart program and goes 3 days a week. He is finally beginning to adjust and there are less tears. He really likes his teachers and is learning so much. It also helps that he has a lot of friends in his class!

Summer Vacation

My family and I went to Myrtle Beach, SC in July. We had a great time and my boys always love spending time with their cousins. Here are some pictures:

We drove 8&1/2 hours the first day, and this is the boys in the hotel room that night!

All the cousins!

Ethan's birthday isn't until September, but we celebrated with my family at the beach.

My family...my mom and dad, my sister and her husband and their 3 boys, and my brother and his wife and their 2 girls.

Silly cousins

"Cannon in the Ball!!" (That is how Ethan would always say it before jumping in)

Field Trip to the Zoo and Earth Day

A few weeks ago, Ethan's kindergarten class took a field trip to the zoo, and Carter and I got to tag along. The weather was great...sunny, low 70's, and breezy! When we got back to school we got to have a picnic lunch outside. It was a perfect day!!

I guess Ethan learned all about Earth day at school a couple weeks ago, because he came home with a mission to clean up all the trash that was outside. He grabbed a bag, then went outside and got busy. I was amazed at the amount of litter he found in our yard alone. He wanted to go around the neighborhood, but quickly got sidetracked by his skateboard and bike. But I guess every little bit helps!

Easter 2009

A couple weeks before Easter, we went to an Easter egg hunt at Carter's preschool. The Easter Bunny was there, and my boys were all geared up to find some eggs. There were two different areas to hunt for eggs. One was for preschoolers and the other was for K-3rd grade. And there was a golden egg in each area!!! I went with Carter and Donnie went with Ethan. Carter just couldn't believe how many eggs there were and how easy it was to find them. He couldn't have cared less about finding the golden egg. Ethan, on the other hand, was a completely different story from what Donnie said! After about 5 minutes of searching, I saw him running over to our area holding something with the biggest grin on his face. He found the golden egg!!! The only bad part about this was that he had to hand it in to receive his prize. I think he would've just rather kept the golden egg as his prize!

YYYYYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!

A couple days before Easter, Carter and Ethan were having a conversation about why they were so excited. Ethan said he loved Easter because of the Easter Bunny. Carter then reminded him that Easter was about God. He told him that the Easter Bunny only gives us candy, but God gives us life. (pronounced wife) I couldn't believe my little 4 year old's thought process!!

The day before Easter I remember Ethan asking me what the Easter Bunny drinks. This was probably his 200th question about the Easter Bunny that day, so without really giving it any thought, I told him I didn't know, probably water. That night after they were both in bed and Donnie and I were hiding eggs, I looked down at the end table in our family room, and there was a glass of water and a note that Ethan wrote to the Easter Bunny. It said, "estr buney fak yow for bein my frend. I luv yow. Ethan Davis"

They were almost as excited Easter morning as they were Christmas morning. I don't remember ever getting that excited about Easter. They loved going through their goodies and searching for eggs. We then went to church and just spent the rest of the day at home. We did color eggs on Saturday, but I forgot to take pictures.

Carter and his favorite thing from the Easter Bunny--a Webkinz kitty he name Cutie Pie

Ethan couldn't decide what was his favorite, so he wanted me to take a picture of him with everything!

What was the Easter Bunny thinking?

On the walls, you can see a couple of the many decorations Ethan made for Easter. If you click on the picture, it will get larger and you can see that the one behind him is Jesus on the cross.

We couldn't get Carter to stop eating jellybeans long enough to find more eggs

Ready for church

My Country Tis of Thee

Ethan has been learning patriotic songs in school. He wanted to sing this one for me, but he hasn't mastered all the words yet!!! Then of course Carter had to sing a song too, but he got cut off at the end b/c my battery died. He sang "I love my Ethan, Ethan's so precious." And then they both hugged.
